Course Content:

Core Subjects

  • Typaz  – The ability to touch type at high speed and accuracy. Outcomes will vary dependent on the application of the individual, but words per minute of between around 20 to 40 words (and beyond) are achievable. Learners achieving 20 wpm will receive the BCS Level 2 Bronze Award.
  • Effective Business Communication – Learn to communicate effectively in business – via letter, email, telephone and personal presentations
  • Microsoft Word – Introductory and intermediate word processing skills to a good employable standard. 
  • Get Into Journalism – Learn the introductory principles of journalism.  This course will give you an overview of journalism and prepare you for your first step into a journalism career
  • Microsoft Outlook – Learn how to share, manage and schedule information electronically
  • Teeline or Pitman 2000 Shorthand – Learn the complete theory of either shorthand system. This will enable you to take notes at speeds of up to 70 wpm
  • Shorthand Speed Development – Learn how to further enhance your shorthand speed to increase dexterity and mental word-holding
